Date Night at Easton: Swords of Meat and A Comedy Club

Monday, July 15, 2013

Saturday night Rick and I met up with some friends for a group date night at Easton. As we were preparing to head out for the night, we had no idea what we were about to get ourselves into.

We had dinner at Texas de Brazil which is a new restaurant at Easton and calls itself a Brazilian Steakhouse. They had some really tasty cocktails including this one called the Rio de Sunrise (I think :) ).

This place is a high-end buffet style restaurant. They have an amazing salad bar that comes as part of the price of the meal, and it has everything from salad, to meats and cheeses, to sushi, to pasta and potato salad to Lobster Bisque. I could have eaten off of the salad bar alone. But then I would have missed the most amazing part of the meal...

The meat portion. They have these servers that go from table to table with meat on a sword. And if you are interested in that meat, they will cut it right off for you right then and there. They have these little tongs at the table that you can use to grab it as they are cutting it off of the sword. Our favorite was the sirloin and the filet wrapped in bacon (who doesn't love bacon and filet??).

Here is a little preview of all of the different meats I tried. Oh and they also bring mashed potatoes and the most amazing plantains baked in cinnamon and sugar. These are to help cleanse your palate between meats. And to top it all off, they had gluten free rolls. I mean, talk about the way to my heart! I haven't enjoyed bread from the bread basket at a restaurant in almost a year since I went gluten free.

The one catch, the cost is a flat $42 per person. Now don't get me wrong, you get a lot of food for the price, and it is super delicious, and I think dessert was included, but we were running late for the comedy club. But we had no idea it was going to be that much, so just be prepared. It's definitely worth it to splurge every once in a while.

We then headed on over to the Funny Bone to see Judah Friedlander:World Champion. He was funny, but I enjoyed the opening guy a little more. I can't remember his name, but his act was about being white trash in Columbus, and all of his jokes sadly hit close to home...ha! If it didn't happen to you, it happened to someone you knew or saw on the streets.

If you ever are in Columbus, I would definitely recommend trying out these two places. It was perfect for a group date night with friends!
