Exploring My Style...in Chambray

Thursday, September 25, 2014

Today I wanted to chat about my style. I feel like my style seems to be always evolving, but there are a few things that I seem to be consistent on. I love to invest in classic pieces that will stand the test of time, but then spice them up with something unique.

For instance I love to pair a solid color t-shirt with a funky statement necklace. Or a classic dress with a fun pair of shoes in either a bright color or leopard print.

One of the trends that I am loving lately is chambray. I am obsessed with it, and already have a small collection of chambray pieces. The one thing in common though is that all of the styles are pretty classic, it's just the material that is sort of different.

Speaking of chambray, I am currently loving this chambray embroidered dress. It's a very classic silhouette, but has a touch of uniqueness with the chambray fabric and embroidered flowers.

This dress is perfect for both Summer and to transition into Fall. The lightweight fabric and short sleeves make it comfortable to wear during the warm Summer months. I think it would be perfect to wear on either a date night or to a casual Summer wedding with some cute sandals. For Fall, just pair it with a cute cardigan and some fun pumps.

The embroidery is my favorite part of this dress, and the flowers remind me of dandelion seeds floating in the wind. And of course no outfit is complete without a little arm party. Rick likes to make fun of my arm parties, but he did contribute to this party since 2 out of the 3 pieces are from him :)

Another fun thing about this dress is that it was completely custom made just for me. Have you ever heard of eShakti? If you haven't you need to head on over there stat! They have a ton of wonderful styles of dresses, tops, skirts and jackets, and they will customize to your height, size and style.

After inputting in my measurements, I had the option to customize my length (long, just below the knee, above the knee), choose if I wanted pockets or not (why not right...I love pockets!), and could even choose if I wanted the embroidery or not.

I was a little nervous about taking my measurements, but Rick actually helped me and it wasn't too hard. There are some guidelines on the site on exactly how to take them, which was super helpful. I would recommend if you are between sizes, for example if your chest is 34.5, to round up to the next whole number. At least that was my experience and it fit perfectly.

Even though I am slim, I am like most women and the measurements for my top half don't match my bottom half. When I was fitted for my wedding dress I was informed that my top was a size smaller than my bottom, which explains why trying to find dresses that fit can be somewhat challenging. To get to fit my bottom half sometimes they are too big up top. And yes even skinny girls have clothing issues. But having the dress custom-made ensured it would fit perfectly and it did.

And here is the best part, you too can get your own custom piece. And you can get it for 10% off using the coupon code "puppypaws". Code will expire on 10/17, so head on over there quickly.

Some other styles I'm loving that you need to check out are the scallop print dress, chambray shirt dress, dot poplin skirt, and this houndstooth jacket.

You can find out more about eShakti on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

And a huge shout out to my hubby who was my photographer for the evening. We took these photos in the spot where we got engaged last Fall, and had our Save the Date photo shoot, so it was fun to reminisce at one of our favorite spots.
